Nicosia, Cyprus. 15 January 2013.  Hyperion Systems Engineering Group (Hyperion), celebrated in 2013 its 20 years of providing consulting, advisory services and systems engineering solutions for the international process manufacturing industry.

A series of activities and events was organized and supported by Hyperion throughout the year to commemorate its anniversary.  On December 13th, 2013 this string of activities concluded with the presentation of a unique publication book, published with Hyperion sponsorship, that includes unique artwork around the poems of the renowned Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy.

Hyperion’s anniversary year coincided with the 150th birth anniversary of the C.P Cavafy, and this unique publication features a collection of the poet's work with each page and poem of the book, specially illustrated by some 100 Artists, a process which took 20 years to complete. Many of these artists, together with Hyperion associates, employees and friends were present during the book presentation, which took place at the Gloria Gallery in Cyprus, on the 13th of December 2013.

Throughout 2013 and on the occasion its 20th year anniversary, Hyperion held and/or supported several other events:

  • The inaugural Hyperion Lecture at the University of Cyprus on February 7th, with guest speaker Dr. Lawrence B. Evans, Emeritus Professor of Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Chairman of Rive Technology Inc. and one of the founding members and former Director of Hyperion. The lecture entitled “Fostering Innovation with an Impact: The MIT Experience in Creating Entrepreneurial Success”, is part of a corporate programme which Hyperion established this year with the University of Cyprus.
  • Hyperion supported as a Gold Sponsor the inaugural Eastern Mediterranean Gas Conference (EMGC), on 8–10 April 2013, in Nicosia.  The EMGC was the first event of its kind in Cyprus organized "from within" the hydrocarbons community by Gulf Publishing Co., the publisher of HYDROCARBON PROCESSING and WORLD OIL magazines, two of the most reputable reference publications of the industry. The conference gave special focus to the latest market and technology trends related to the exploration, drilling, production, processing and marketing of natural gas in the Cypriot and Israeli sectors of the Eastern Mediterranean Subsea and covered critical issues such as resource potential, leasing/permitting, development plans, infrastructure requirements, governmental plans and regulations, and more.
  • The Hyperion Systems Engineering Academic Excellence Awards were granted in June, during the awards ceremonies organized by the University of Cyprus. Starting from 2013, these annual awards are given every summer to two top students, in recognition to their work and performance, in courses relevant and related to Hyperion's activities, and are matched with offers of full-time employment in the Hyperion Group.
  • In cooperation with Universities in Cyprus and abroad, Hyperion admitted in the summer of 2013 six paid student internships, who worked and obtained training and experience with Hyperion’s divisions in Cyprus. Intern take positions will be offered in the summer by the company every year.
  • Hyperion supported the Open Seminar organized by Frederick University in Nicosia, on the 19th of September 2013. The Seminar is about ‘Oil & Gas Developments in the Region of Cyprus - Job Opportunities and Educational Needs.’ Dr. Symeon Kassianides, CEO of the Hyperion Systems Engineering Group gave a presentation about Oil and Gas developments, entrepreneurship and business opportunities, from the perspective of a successful and established Cypriot service provider in the field.
  • Hyperion sponsored and presented at the workshop on LNG Production and Safety, which was held on the 12th of November 2013. The European University Cyprus organized, for the first time in Cyprus, a technical Workshop on Liquified Natural Gas. The aim of the Workshop was to shed light to the future energy outlook for Cyprus and the wider SE Europe.  The workshop concentrated on providing technical details on the various aspects of LNG production and safety. Dr Symeon Kassianides, CEO of Hyperion Systems Engineering Group, gave a presentation on 'Simulation in LNG Plant design: Principles and Case studies'.

Marking the anniversary, Hyperion purposely amended its logotype, for all its corporate communications, as a statement of its 20-year presence and expertise in its business areas.
