An article edited by Anastasia Korneeva and Natalia Pupkova of Hyperion Systems Engineering Russia, presenting the implementation case study of Thermo Scientific Sample Manager LIMS at the Sakhalin Energy main laboratory located at its LNG plant/oil export terminal (OET), as well as in upstream satellite laboratories throughout the company's production facilities.

Sakhalin Energy is bringing onstream one of the largest integrated oil and gas projects in the world in Russia’s Far East. The Sakhalin-II Project is a combined
partnership between Gazprom (50% plus 1 share), Shell (27.5%), Mitsui (12.5%) and Mitsubishi (10%) and incorporates the recovery, production and transportation of oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Sakhalin-II is one of the world’s biggest integrated oil and gas projects. It was built from scratch in the harsh subartic environment of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East. Phase 1 involved first oil production from an offshore platform Molkpaq installed at the Piltun-Astokhskoye field in 1999. Phase 2 included the installation of two further platforms, 300 km of offshore pipelines connecting all three platforms to shore, more than 800 km of onshore oil and gas pipelines, an onshore processing facility, an oil export terminal and the construction of Russia’s first liquefied natural gas plant.  www.sakhalinenergy.com
