Which thermodynamics for which application? The case of operator training simulators

Based on the poster presentation in the 19th European Seminar on Applied Thermodynamics, Santorini, Greece, Sep 2002

The importance of thermodynamics in developing an accurate process model is undeniable. However, if the focus is not on evaluating design alternatives but on operator training of relatively small plant areas, then a lot can be achieved without using the most accurate thermodynamic methods. This is demonstrated for a series of typical industrial processes.
